IMPORTANT: If you read your mail on more than one computer, be sure you do not use a POP client to work with your email after you begin using IMAP ? if you do, you are likely to delete your IMAP mail from the server. Once you have converted to IMAP on one computer, you should reconfigure your other POP clients for IMAP before using them to connect to the mail server.
1.Start Evolution, on the Tools menu, click settings.
2. Select the Mail Accounts icon. Click the add button.
5. Click the next button on the "Mail Configuration" window
5. In the "identity" window, type your name in the Full name space and your email address in the Email Address space. Click the next button.
6. In the "Receiving Email" window, select POP or IMAP from the Server_Type option bar. Type in your mail server hostname in the Host space and username in the Username space. Select ALWAYS in the Use Secure Connection(SSL) option bar. Select Password in the Authentication Type option bar or click on Check for supported types to automatically check what form of authentication the selected mail server accepts. Click next button.
6. In the "Sending Email" window, select SMTP from the Server_Type option bar. Type in your mail server hostname in the Host space. Again, select ALWAYS in the Use Secure Connection(SSL) option bar. Select Password in the Authentication Type option bar or click on Check for supported types to automatically check what form of authentication the selected mail server accepts. Type in your username in the Username space. Click next button.
7. In the "Account management" window, type the name you will like to refer to this accout ( An alias name e.g Work or Personal. Default is your email address. ) Click next button.
8. Congratulations, you have sucessfully set an email account using Evolution with SSL. Click Finish button.
9. Your newly created account will now be displayed in the Mail Accounts window. You can close that window. You do not need to restart Evolution to send and receive new mail. Click on the Send and Receive button( top of window ).
10. If you encounter problems sending or receiving new mails, repeat (1),(2) then select the mail account responsible for the errors and click on the Edit button to edit that mail account.
