Configuring Your E-mail in Microsoft Outlook 2003

1.  To set Up Your e-mail account in Microsoft Outlook, select Tools, then E-mail Accounts.

2.  On the E-mail Accounts wizard window, select "Add a new e-mail account" and click Next.

3.  For your server type select IMAP or POP3 depending on your preferences.

*Note:

With the IMAP setting email is kept on server, there is no need to download all email when using another computer to check your email.

With the POP3 setting email you need to download all of your e-mail again when using another computer.
May cause problems if you're checking your e-mail from multiple locations.

4.  On the Email accounts window highlight the account you want to use and click on the change button.

5.  On the Internet E-mail Settings (IMAP/POP3) window, enter your personal information.

Incoming mail server (IMAP/POP3): enter andromeda.rutgers.edu or pegasus.rutgers.edu

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): enter andromeda.rutgers.edu or pegasus.rutger.edu

6.  Click on "More Settings" button. The "Internet E-mail Settings" window will open.
        Select the "Outgoing Server" tab.
Check "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" box.
Then select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" radio button.

7.  Select the "Advanced" tab.
In the "Server Port Numbers" section, check both boxes for "Incoming server (IMAP/POP)
and Outgoing server (SMTP)", and then click OK.

8.  Click Next. This will bring you back to the E-Mail Accounts window.

9.  Click Finish.
